Reforming the UN

UN was born is 1945. At the time, the geo-economics and geo-politics were more concentrated on the Atlantic region. But now the engine of growth has shifted to the Asia-Pacific region. The current situation in the global order demands that Security Council reflects the aspirations of the emerging economies like India, South Africa and Brazil. Inspite of India being the fifth largest economy as per IMF report, and has the possibilities of having the third largest economy in coming ten years, it is still denied of enjoying the privilege of having a permanent seat in the UNSC. This editorial speaks on the dire need of having a reform in the UN. India is going held the non-permanent seat at the UNSC for next two years from January 2021.
